Posted By Robert K Lewis Hi Sima
Why are we locking threads because they are uncomfortable for our printers to read? One can understand this when things are controversial or in the wrong place but the magazine is available to non-members as well as members. I do not understand why comment on the abilities of the publishers to produce good copies is something that should be quelled. Can you explain your reasons and logic?

Posted By Alan Haynes The trouble with locking the thread on the errors in producing the SHP is that it ensures that it slips down the list and disappears onto a following page - thereby risking that some members will be unaware of the process for getting new copies

Posted By TBC Most of it will be information you have seen before and the same old job adverts so why put the HSP to extra expense?

Posted By Bruce Sutherland What I have found more interesting was the stunning silence I received when I queried the "just ask" stuff on asbestos hoovers in the October issue - in my opinion a misleading and not very educated article - this is perhaps more of a challenge to IOSH as it has our logo on the front cover.

Posted By Hazel Harvey Bob, IOSH members can always contact the IOSH membership department if they have any problems with the SHP magazine. However, subscribers to the magazine, who are not IOSH members should contact CMPI directly IOSH don't have the responsibility for these readers. There will always be a limited number of 'duff' copies in any batch and these are dealt with routinely by our membership department. Bruce, Did your communication go directly to CMPI? If you want IOSH to be aware of this you will need to copy your letter to our Communications Department as we may not see things that go directly to the magazine. The SHP is provided to IOSH members via a contract we have with CMPI and we do have representation on a publishing board with them but it needs to be appreciated that although this provision is of great benefit to IOSH members (our recent membership survey confirmed that it was regarded as the No1 benefit)there can be occasional difficulties with using a third party supplier. If you haven't received your copy of SHP at all this month it may mean that your subscription for 2007/8 has not yet been received and your membership is suspended. Contact Membership@iosh.co.uk if this is the case, you may think you have paid but actually haven't.(I'm sure years get shorter these days so it might have been last year that you paid!) Many thanks for the information, useful as always. The point of the post however is to question the readiness to lock off threads for no specific reason.
