Posted By halesowen Baggie A senior manager from another site keeps sending waste materials (a pallet at a time containing paints, aerosols, thinners, oil etc) to my warehouse for us to deal with. We have had items come up to us oozing out of bags and have no idea what the substance is. I then get a hazardous waste company in to sort the mess out. I am sending a report to this manager letting him know that this practice cannot happen again. I have got the H&S angle of why he should not be doing this, can anybody give me something where environmental legislation would not allow this practice. I.E transfer of hazardous waste without paperwork, duty of care etc.

Posted By Dave Wilson Hello mate,
If he is sending this to you for disposal it should be done under a Haz Waste Consignment Note, EWC Codes etc. If you then accept this waste then you would need a Waste Management License to do so or a Waste Transfer Station License from the EA and planning permission and maybe even an IPPC permit.
You have to look after your waste in accordance with the Waste (Duty of Care) Regs and all that entails.
I will email you some info
