Morning All.
My company is organising a children's Xmas party for children aged 0-10. We are paying for the venue, food, entertainment and Christmas presents. While I'm aware of the ACAS checklist etc. for adults parties and I don't want to appear a Scrooge at this time of year, I can also see various risks - children choking on small parts from toys etc. Has anybody got any advice or been in the same position?

We have a children's party every year for employees children. We always get consent signed by parents for the children to attend, this includes having photo taken. They also fill in a form telling us dietary requirements (covers allergies) The consent form also says that the children remain the responsibility of the parents. We then do all the risk assessments on the venue, the children's entertainers (we include CRB checks)

buy pressies from good toy company and put suitable age on outside to help Santa.

That'll stop young kids getting something for over 3's etc.

Hi Tim, you seem to have covered the liability issues with regards to the pressies i.e. buying age relevant presents from a reputable outlet. The overall DoC to the children falls to the Duty Holder of the premises where you hold your party.

In my experience, age related present (labelled M/F) also reduce the risks of the little darlings falling out over who has what...

You may want to check the PL insurance of the premises and that it covers your activities - check with the insurers direct.
