Hi All,
I am doing a research project in order to complete a Masters Degree. The subject of which is safety incentives and schemes. I have produced a questionnaire on the subject which is short and will only take a few minutes to complete. I have sent a more detailed questionnaire to the workforce at my place of work.

I would be extremely grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete my questionnaire, it will help me greatly in completing my degree.

If you would like to help, please drop me an e-mail at michael@jmagla.co.uk and I will send you a word document, which has a series of tick boxes to fill in.

Thank you for your time and help.

Regards Michael Armstrong

sorry, problems with my e-mail address on this forum.

For what it is worth :

* no "prize draw" for one big prize. One site I know had about 25000 employees (Peugeot). One winner of a car. 24999 losers.

* no penalty for a Lost Time Injury. You can't be sure it was the victim's fault or even that of his supervisor. Bonus points for a good inquiry and effective (repeat, effective) actions.

* divide the site into teams and award points for POSITIVE achievements. (training, audits, meetings and so-on)The more they do the faster they win.

* No "poisonous" prizes. A fire extinguisher or a first aid kit is nice to have but you NEVER want to have to use them. Get the company, as a separate scheme, to offer them at a nominal price.

* If you are awarding "prizes" (equal value for everyone in the team) then make them something for the home. Every time you use it you are reminded of your achievement. I left my last employer 15 years ago but we still have a garden hose, a coffee maker and a battery charger (the B&D drill died years ago)

* Again, if you are awarding prizes, they should be presented individually by the MD. Not by H&S.
