Hi All,

Hope everybody had a great weekend, don't you just love mondays??

Anyway, I'm just starting a project looking at Lone Working (LW) for my organisation. It seems quite a simple subject; get a system of locating/communicating with your LW's, train them how to use it, monitor and review it...

So, I reckon that's simple. Does anybody know of any user friendly LW systems that will allow us to locate LW's etc?

Any other input would be appreciated.......

Enjoy your week... Jon

I think you need to give us more information.

Who are these employees? What job are they doing? Where are they doing it? Is there any special risk to them such as visiting people in their homes or dealing with violent people?

Indeed,

There are a variety of differing lone working roles within the organisation.

Patrolling housing estates, delivering letters, collecting rent, floating care staff dealing with "vulnerable" tennants including drug users, property surveyors, people acting as leasing agents, taking potential tennats to view property...

So a wide range of roes there, but I'm hoping not to overcomplicate the whole system, of course I want to protect all staff as much as possible but I'd also like to get a workable system up an running as soon as I can (there are various local arrangements within different areas of the organisation, but my aim is to bring it al together and therefore be able to implement and monitor it more effectively)

Cheers... Jon

Are you looking at a policy-based system (such as having people call each other on mobile phones) or a device-based one (such as personal motion detectors or panic buttons)?

I know some of the large utility/telecoms companies use a service provided by Chubb, based on staff making phone calls to book on/off sites, where if someone doesn't call in time and doesn't answer a call from Chubb to them, they send a man in a van. Maybe not a young man, and maybe not a fast van, but it's a start. Guardian24 do a similar thing for many councils and home visitors and also provide panic button devices and monitoring.
