Posted By mark limon I am self studying the Fire Cert so I bought an excellent reference book "Introduction to Fire Safety Management" £39.99 and well worth it . I then sent to Nebosh for sample question papers and received 1 for £4.I also sent for Examiners reports and received 1 for £6. This is despite them being advertised as "reports" and "papers" not a report and a question paper. On top of that a £1 p&p,seems rather expensive to me. http://www.nebosh.org.uk...default.asp?section_id=4Is it any wonder some people share these things ignoring copyright. The ones I have are the September 2007 exam paper and the June 2007 Examiners report

Posted By Seano Mark,
How is the self study going? I am thinking about taking this approach. Does it cost much to just take the exam?

Posted By mark limon Ive just started but the text book is really easy to follow especially with all the sample questions in it.The exam I think is £90 but the cost of being an external candidate with the company I took my NGC is another £150 plus vat,no favours there.

Posted By Andy Brazier I self-studied and sat last December's exam. I got a credit overall. I scored well in the written papers but only scraped through the practical. I was surprised about the practice but think it was partly because I had not had the chance to practice and also I used too many of my own ideas which did not follow the Nebosh style.
It cost £90 for the exam and my local college did not charge me for sitting it with them (they even gave me lunch).
Cost was not the reason for self studying. I would have found it difficult to organise my work to attend class room sessions either on block or spread over weeks. Also, I had a good knowledge of safety and could not really face sitting through a course. I doubt self-study saved me time overall, but was much more flexible.
Good luck
