Posted By Brenda H Just looking at who needs what training and have decided to use a PASMA course for guys who erect/inspect towers.
Is it advisable/a requirement for all individuals who use towers to go on this course, or could the team that erect/inspect do this course and the users be trained in-house on WAH requirements etc?

Posted By Dave Wilson You do not legally have to do PASMA for anyone using lightweight tower scaffolds.
If you believe you are competent to do this then why not DIY.
The course itself is pretty basic and the HSE produce good guidance and you can purchase the DVD from PASMA as well.

Posted By Brian Kavanagh We have a number of departments that use towers - so we use a company called Operator Training Services to provide us with PASMA training as required.
Having taken the course I can say it is very useful - event to me as a Safety Advisor.
The theory bit of the course is fairly straight forward, the practical part of the course is the real business - it's an entire afternoon involving erecting and dismantling a tower under supervision - which is hard work.

Posted By Brenda H I personally wouldn't feel 'competent' to give the course, even reading and consulting HSE wesbite etc as it just isn't an area i've dealt with. Although I have discussed with PASMA the possibility of me being trained as a trainer for our company.
Also, from a previous thread i'd posted it would seem the PASMA route is widely accepted as being 'the' route by other companies and bodies (not that I want to start the argument over whether this is wring or wrong!).
