One of our secretary's has just informed me she has a WRULD (tennis elbow) which she believes to be due to typing,does this need to go in the accident book?or should i just document it elsewhere?
Does anyone have any experience of this?

If it's a result of workplace activity then it would count under the S3 RIDDOR table as a reportable disease:-

It's not an accident in the sense of first aid "treatment being provided".

Hi

I assume you have already completed a DSE Assessment on the employee to ensure her set up is correct?

Also has she been to see her GP for confirmation that she has a WRULD and not some type of infection?. It is also a good idea to get occ health involved once she has been to see her GP

A DSE assessment has been done and all our office based employees have been on a DSE course.
She has not seen her GP yet so it a self diagnosis,we have asked her to visit her GP and get back to us.

Her GP might just (!) write down whatever it is she tells them.

Referral to OH Doctor is best practice.

Not reportable under RIDDOR until and unless you have a specific diagnosis from a Doctor.

However I would certainly document this somewhere - we would do it on an accident form (our substitute for an accident book) as this is the easiest way for us to capture such occurrences. I accept the comment that it's not actually an accident, so record it in whatever way works best for you.

If you have access to an OH service, you should definitely involve them.

We dont have a OH service yet.I have now documented her report and will now wait to hear from the doctor until i decide what course of action to take.In the meantime would it be wise to place her on light duties even though she feels fit for work?
