Posted By DJ I am having problems getting onto HSE direct this morning. If anybody has a copy of EH40 to hand, could they please let me know where on the lists the following chemicals (or compounds) appear: i. coal dust; ii. diesel; iii. mineral oils; iv. manganese; and v. percolone. I can be contacted on 01423 724098 or at d.sinclair@hempsons.co.ukAny assistance will be greatly received. Many thanks. DJ.

Posted By Mike Of the five substances only manganese has a published WEL in EH40 Table 1. Coal dust: 2 mg/m3 (respirable) LV was deleted from EH40/2005 as unsafe. Dusts including coal dust are under review by HSE. Diesel (exhaust particulate ?): no agreement in Europe on single LV for all sectors. Under review by HSE. Oil mist, mineral: 5 mg/m3 8h-TWA was deleted from EH40/2005 as unsafe. Percolone: no country has developed a national LV for this opiate. Very unlikely that it would happen. Has to be in-house LV. See the following link for a selection of national LVs from about 14 countries including UK WELs and US PELs. This database has the withdrawn UK LVs listed although they are flagged as withdrawn. http://www.hvbg.de/e/bia.../limit_values/index.html
