all you scaffolders out there;

were scaffolds are erected around the perimiter of a proposed timber frame structure and obviously through ties cannot be in place it is common to use braced rakers for example, however if there was no romm to fit braced rakers would the scaffold have to be have a specific design, and how would this combat the lack of ties throughout the structure?

There is always a way. You say that there is no room for foot back / rakers, if that’s the case what’s in the way and can you not anchor to that.

The return (corner) of a scaffold can provide stability for 3 meters each side of the corner, if the scaffold is to fully surround the proposed structure, this lessens the ties required.

Alternatively concrete cantilidge blocks can be positioned in the base of the scaffold and anchored to the structure to ensure stability.

But! All this will need to be designed and calculated by a scaffold design engineer. If you are using a competent scaffold company, then they should have this facility.

Anyway must get back to the Diploma unit C revision for my final exam. What fun!
