Posted By GARRY WIZZ Intresting read on the above topic. However I know nothing of Pace other than what I have gleaned from the postings on this topic.
From the previous posting I am not sure as to what the law is and how pace/inspectors fit into it.
or
I am a duffer and cannot understand the flow of the topic.
Any way, can anyone clarify what is the law in relation to powers of an inspector and the relationship with pace.

Posted By Dave Wilson Basically Inspectors have certain powers under differing ACTS etc and allows them to do things to undertake their duties to see if people are complying etc.
PACE kicks in when an inspector thinks that they have broken the law and they may wish to do something 'formally' about it so they have to caution etc "You do not have to say anything ..... blah blah.

Posted By ITK Dave is right, HASAWA Section 20 powers apply until the inspector believes there may be legal proceedings and the evidence may be required, he/she would then caution...eg you do not have to say anything...
PACE stands for Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
