Posted By Chris G In H&S there is sometimes a need to retain certain documents for significant periods of time (in my case I need 40 years + storage). I have to work under a document policy that requires stored documents to be "safe from deterioration and secure." and our storage conditions have been questioned by an auditor. Does anyone have any guidance on conditions for storage for paper documents, having already come across similar problems, as no one here has been able to come up with an answer that satisfies the auditor.
Thanks, Chris G

Posted By Kevin Coghill Might be an obvious already thought of solution but what about off site storage companies? I'd assume that there will be a need for a certain minimum temp/humidity etc. so see what local providers there are.
If the auditor is getting silly with it, speak to a document restorer/archiver at a museum for example to get a definative idea of the environmental requirements.
