Dear All,

Sorry to have gone AWOL for a few weeks, but in my absence, the moderators have locked the original thread.

To recap, there appears to be quite an appetite from the forum's more enlightened folk who think a bunch of safety advisors hooning around a track on their bikes may be a jolly good idea. It may even make some good publicity for our anti-bonkers-conkers quest, as riding a motorcycle is an expression of pure risk management.....

So here's the latest, I am currently looking into Oulton Park as a likely venue (fairly central and a terrific ride), sometime around July. To all of those who have expressed an interest, the ground rules will probably be along the lines of:

- We will seek out a day with a reputable track day organiser - probably from their existing programme of events.

- The event will be aimed toward the novice with good levels of instruction present. It will not be a hooligan crash fest.

- Anyone turning up with slicks and tyre warmers better be damn good or will be ridiculed relentlessly!

- Once the date is set, it will be up to the individual to book on and pay directly to the organiser. In other words, let's all just book onto the same track day that's already being run.

- The cost for the full day will be around £150.

- It will invariably take place on a week day. Weekend track days tend to be either very rare or expensive.

- It is down to the individual to supply their own machine.

- It is also likely that full or zip-together leathers will be mandatory, as well as a decent lid (ACU gold stamp). Flip-ups will probably not be allowed.

I'm going to get on the phone imminently to see what I can button-down. Again, by all means contact me directly if you are serious about this too.

Excellent news Mack. I'm hoping to get along to the London Motorcycle Show next weekend so may have to add Leathers and non flip up helmet to the shopping list although I may check with Oulton Park about the helmet as my Caberg is ACU gold approved. This could get expensive. Ho Hum, all in the name of safety I tell myself, that should help convince the other half.

Had a look at the rapid training site yesterday, looks really good. I've emailed them about leathers and helmets so when I get an answer I'll post here to let everyone know. Hopefully there'll still be heaps of interest in this.

Excellent!

All current UK trackays are listed here - http://www.uktrackdays.co.uk/

Just a thought but can we arrange for this event to possibly be covered in the SHP?

Hi All,

1st July, Oulton Park is currently looking favourite, although nothing has been cast in concrete just yet.

In order to alleviate any conflict of interest on this forum (re advertising etc), please contact me directly for more info, please be patient as I'll be away most of the week won't be checking my email.

Thanks
John Mack
