Posted By Healthy Debate More like:
"Ice cream toppings banned amid FEAR OF BEING SUED!"
In this instance the safety 'manager' at this company is crazy, his/her colleagues are crazy for letting this be implemented and the journalist who wrote the article is crazy.
Get life, move on.

Posted By Tabs Oh dear, fancy letting them quote you that chocolate sauce is "quite liquidy" :-)
The "spokesman" (not safety manager) should be ashamed.
On another note, I've never heard of this company ...
"Last night angry ice cream lovers at the Morellis parlour in Broadstairs said health and safety was taking the fun out of the seaside."
Poor little people, going all that way just to get sauce on their ice cream ... it seems the rest of the experience of the seaside just can't compete with someone else putting the sauce on for you ... it didn't seem to occur to them to tip the sauce from the container
*sigh* I wish I could be there when they interview these people! I would have such fun laughing in their face :-)

Posted By Chris Packham Has this company realised what they have done. By drawing attention to the risk of a slippery floor they may have exposed themselves to the possibility of a significant damages claim.
Consider the situation where a child drops some of their ice cream on the floor. Ice cream melts. Someone slips on slippery floor.
Compensation claim draws attention to the fact that the company was aware of the hazard from their product causing a slippery floor. Might this not increase the potential for a successful claim and increase the level of the compensation.
Perhaps the company should also ban the sale of ice cream!
Chris
(And yes - it is Friday!)

Posted By Dave Adams CMIOSH This sounds to me like a publicity stunt akin to Heinz not making salad cream any more - how many more people will now go in a buy an ice cream now just to experience the apparent outrage for themselves.
Typical lazy journalism - blame health and safety when the actual problem is fear of litigation and general ignorance. If it happened to be raining outside would they take their customers shoes off and give people slippers to wear in the store?
Bonkers
Rant over

Posted By Edward Shyer Why this company could not simply have researched the problem they would have resolved this problem.
This would only involve the addition of an anti slip powder that is available which is quoted as guaranteeing the prevention of people slipping on all sauces that have included the powder.
Apparently it is odourless and tasteless and does not have any E numbers and is cheap.
Regards
Ted
