Posted By Paul Woodard Has anybody heard of the requirement to notify a hospital if a tower crane in excess of 10 metres tall is used within an area of 6 km of a hospital. If yes can you pleas etell me which legislation or guidance this originates from and for what purpose. ie interference with telcommunications, flight paths of air ambulance etc.. Thanks, Paul.

Posted By Konstanty Budkiewicz Paul, Using web search text “visual aids for denoting obstacles”, you will find the following links: http://www.casr.gov.pg/Part%2077.pdf The content is sound guidance in general principles. However, I don’t know whether the link content is UK specific or not (it has no suitable owner/source reference). That said, after you read the document you should be able to describe your design in more specific detail to subsequent specialists. I then suggest you phone the Air Ambulance Operations contact at the local hospital, or ,contact the Civil Aviation Authority for definitive guidance (they have a web site) . Kon CMIOSH

Posted By alex mccreadie In answer to your initial question there is no requirement in BS7121 PARTS 1-5 Or LOLER to say notify a Hospital but as previously stated contact the Hospital to check whether the crane is in a flight path(They may not accept Helicopters)erect crane with a Red Light on top not a great expense. Ta Alex
