Posted By steven n It's all getting a bit annoying now, when I tell people I am a health and safety advisor I get comments like "so your you're one of them people who bans things and stops us having fun are yer!" nothing to do with the fact most of us work hard to ensure that our employees go home in the same condition they arrived because essentially that is why we do it,because without us most factories would be akin to something out of a Dickens novel.

Posted By Kevin Drum If you read the whole article and not just the first paragraph, you will see that the comment made by the Chief Exec of the housing association stated that "As a result of a risk assessment it was advised that the wooden floors were in need of repair and would need to comply with Disability Disscrimination Act". After consultation with local residents, pressumably the users, it was decided to replace with carpeted floor. It also stated that although this did not suit the dancers other users were happy. By jumping to the defence of every article that mentions Health & Safety are we not in danger of giving ourselves a bad name?

Posted By Pete Longworth I think we should all just stop whinging and get on with our jobs. Newspapers are going to use these stories to sell copy. It's a fact of life. We are just the current fashion. Chucking your dummy out of the pram ain't going to stop that. They will move on to something else soon enough.

Posted By Carl West I can see why we get all the bad headlines though With work going overseas because of English companies strained with all the overheads of red tape, it sometimes begs the question....
