Posted By akm Am I right in thinking that only UK registered directors are eligible to sign declarations of conformance to CE? I know its not H&S but would like to find out. Thanks Alastair

Posted By akm Thanks CFT for the link. It maybe the lack of detail in my question or just me, but I'm still not sure the answer. We manufacture instruments. The current signatory happens to be a legal director, but to provide for the fact that he may get run over tomorrow, we really ought to increase the number of responsible persons. An obvious candidate is a director in name only and not a registered company director. Does that matter? I'm presuming from the article provided that it just has to be someone who is appropriate in terms of knowledge and accountability.

Posted By CFT Just so, with a position within the company that befits the reason for signing; someone with no knowledge of the product but a signatory/Director in name would be as much help as as an ejector seat in a helicopter. CFT

Posted By Ron Hunter CFT: Bad analogy. Some combat helicopters do have ejector seats. The ejection sequence first of all takes off the rotor blades with exploding bolts.
