Posted By steven n We have an expectant mother who is going to work from home shortly. We are obviously going to do a risk assessment but would a home visit be necassary or would it be okay for us to trust her to inform us of any significant hazards in her home?

Posted By Ron Hunter You have no responsibility for any hazards in her home unless the work activity compounds that risk somehow. I would expect a DSE Workstation and Assessment as per any workplace and in the absence of any indication of significant change or medical problem being notified to you, a trimester review. The employee can be asked to provide some pictures of the Workstation and a self-assessment conducted for later Manager approval.I do not see an absolute need to visit the employee's home. The DSE Assessment and review process can be used to satisfy the requirements for new and expectant mothers, avoiding the need to generate extra and needless paperwork.
