Posted By AJM Hi All, I would like to know if anyone knows what the guidance is for the actual guidance time frame between Electrical hard wiring testing in various industries or where i can find the information. I always worked on the Manufacturing 3 years most other types of buisness 5 years. But i recently heard places like swimming pools and leisure centers are 1 year. Does anyone know the true guidelines for a Health Spa with a pool etc in it where obviously general public go too. Thanks in advance Alan

Posted By Rachael Palmer There are no hard and fast rules as to the frequency of inspection & testing. It is dependant upon the age and condition of the installation, the environment, whether the installation is exposed to hazards that could cause it to deteriorate. The inspecting electrician should indicate on the inspection report when the next inspection should be carried out. However if the installation damaged in any way then the inspection should be brought forward. Try contacting the Institution of Engineering and Technology http://www.theiet.org/ they have a range of guidance documents which may give you the answer. Try to get sight of a copy of the IEE Guidance Note 7: Special Locations, 2nd Edition ISBN 0-85296-995-3
