Posted By Alan Walkinshaw I have measured airborn formaldehyde exposure at 0.04ppm average over an 8 hr shift in an industrial factory environment. This is obviously well within the WEL of 2ppm. However, how does 0.04ppm compare to what you would normally expect in a modern working environment ?

Posted By CFT Alan For the sake of interest the HSE's own toxicology review found that eye irritation can be caused by exposure to levels as low as 0.01ppm, and it is worthy of note to mention that OSHA in the USA has set a limit of 0.75ppm! It gets worse or better whichever way you choose to view it, in Sweden or Germany the maximum permissible indoor level is 0.1ppm. There are many more less hazardous materials that can easily replace many products containing 'F'; I don't know what you do, perhaps it is widespread use and cutting of MDF, maybe the LEV needs thinking about, it is hard to speculate when I have no idea what you do, so sorry, I can't offer a comparison on your 0.4 parts per. C
