Posted By MP Grayson Good morning. Have you contacted the construction site in question. They know their hazards, risk and control measures more than anyone. And, they have a duty to co-operate and share information on the grounds of H/S. Crack on.

Posted By Ron Hunter Hmmm.....a hard hat and a safety vest, but no safety footwear? Isn't that contrary to the big sign at the entrance to the site? Should make for an interesting Risk Assessment!

Posted By The toecap Well, i would imagine stout footwear and where possible safety footwear. I guess those with no safety footwear would have to be excluded then

Posted By James K I have had numerous visits to sites around the country from college students. Usually the students have the safety footwear already and all they would need is the safety goggles, high viz and hard hat. A site induction for the student, not alone should incorporate the usual topics but I would think that extra time should be allowed to ensure that the students fully understand the hazards on site and the risks associated with the hazards. During one of the first visits we found that the students "knew it all" and did not pay much attention to the site induction. The company also wrote to the college accepting them onto the site but clearly outlined the "do's" and "dont's" associated with their visit. It was clearl;y stated in the letter to the college that anybody noted not adhering to the rules / guidelines would be removed from site. Having said all that, it was engineering colleges that were on site. A lot would depend on the type of student you are inviting onto site.
