Posted By lewes We have a number of low - medium risk sites and we dont currently have any Fire Marshal training in place, on the list of things to do !! Are there any legal requirements on who can deliver fire marshal training? I was looking at undertaking the course (as im an instructor on other safety subject matters) and then running similar in-house. Of course I wouldnt want to try and run any extinguisher training. Any thoughts ??? lewes Member Posts: 258 Joined: Thu Jul 13, 2006 11:25 am

Posted By CW As I type there are two firemen giving extinguisher training in the car park. Very reasonable cost too. Just ring your local service and they will sort you out. They are coming back in a few weeks to provide Marshall/ Warden training.

Posted By Phill Firmin I provide Fire Warden Training and Fire Management Training in-house. I would recommend the use of the FPA DVD 'The Role of the Fire Warden' along with the various government fire safety guides for more focused information. Delivering training is a matter of your competence to do so, if you can prepare and deliver the goods thats fine, as long as your policy is not for accredited certificated training in this area (e.g. First Aid is!). I cannot see any problem with delivering fire extinguisher training for water or CO2 as long as you keep it non-live (without actual fire), but demonstrate their use and allow delegates to have a go under supervision! If you want to go live then best get someone competent in to ensure all the bases are covered for staff protection and liability etc. Stay safe! Phill.
