Can anyone help here?
We have an outdoor gas bottle (propane / Butane) storage cage, what is 'no smoking' distance from this?
I'm not sure if there is a mandatory distance or if it varies by site.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
Industry guidance, in BCGA GN 2, quotes a minimum separation of 1 metre if 400 kg and 3 metres if >400 kg for LPG from naked flames. To my knowledge there is no specific mandatory/legal distance. You will undoubtedly find more more information in LPGA CoPs 7 & 24.

Smoking is not allowed anywhere within the "separation distance".
So in real terms (if you have around 400 - 1000 kg of LPG stored) it is 3.0 metres.
The distance increases by roughly plus another 1.0 metre at quantities of 4,000, 6,000, 12,000, 20,000, 30,000, etc, kg
So, if you have 30,000 kg the distance is 8.0 metres
hope this helps

That should have read 'less than 400 Kg'.
