Is it a legal requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to have a DOCUMENTED FIRE EVACUATION PLAN for a single storey building where the vast majority of personnel are out on the road working. The building is occupied by 2/3 persons and vehicle exits remain open in building for the whole working day at the front of the building with fire exit door at the rear.
Our Environmental Manager is stating we must have one in place under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 but i cant find where it says it must be documented?????

Hi Grumpy,
you say you have 2/3 employee's in the office but how many staff does your company employ?
If it is 5 or more you would be required to 'record' the arrangements for the effective planning, organisation, control, monitoring and review of preventative and protective measures. This would include fire evacuation procedures.

Grumpy,
You will have to record it but keep anything proportionate to the operation of the site as reflected by the Fire RA. It doesn't have to be War and Peace for you type of site.
