Posted By The toecap I see the Clarkson thing but. I saw on the tv on Monday morning a women reporter screaming trying to be heard in the high winds. All this after the met office warned that persons should not venture out unless absolutley necessary and there's a camera crew being ragged by the winds. Is it me.....

Posted By Dave Merchant OB crews are expendable. They even send some of them north of Watford... (unless you work for Sky News, in which case you'll be reporting from Hammersmith where someone might have seen a cat which looked like it was doing something with a political undertone) There are risk assessments up to your ears on any bad-weather OB, mainly as behind the camera was a damn great Iveco with an uplink dish, and something shaped like a UFO doesn't like the wind. Nobody really cares if the reporter gets drenched, but if the link drops the studio has to fill time and looks stupid. Luckily for the viewing figures, the RA tends to fade from memory as soon as the count-in starts, so our plucky reporter will have been receiving 'dynamic safety information' on talkback, such as "Look more scared! Work those waves! Mascara! I want to see running mascaaaaara! Grab the hat honey.. now just one more step backwards... remember this isn't Sky..."

Posted By The toecap I noticed on a report this morning from Wales that the reporter did the broadcats from inside. Stating it was too bad outside. But this time we could actually hear what she was saying. A marvel for common noggin
