Posted By JWP I have stopped articulated vehicles tipping on my site due to high winds and the increased potential for a tip over. I have used an arbitary figure of wind speed in excess of 20 mph to suspend tipping. I know some sites use this figure but, is there an industry standard or best practice guidance available? I would appreciate your veiws on the subject. John

Posted By John Ward 001 I've struggled with the same issue for some years, nobody seems to want to put a figure on it...... we suspend tipping at 27mph. This figure is in the same ball park as MEWP (mobile elevated working platforms) and crane wind speed figures, for being stood down from operation. The majority of guidance I've found suggest that as the landlord of your site, you have the responsibility to operate it safely, other guidance suggests that the HGV driver should make the judgement - I don't personally go for that one. Today I've written to the Road Transport Association asking for guidance on this subject. When they reply, I'll post you the main points if any. Regards, John.
