Hi check with one of the professional bodies e.g I think there is one called the institute of fire safety engineers and ask what course they recommend re getting your people on their register and thus a professional recognition. I went on a 3 day fire course. But my training section didn't check it out properly..i got a certificate of attendance but isn't worth that much as it doesn't get me attached to any of the professional bodies. I have heard there is a training company based in north Ireland, Belfast I think, that does training plus you submit a few completed fire risk assessments and this will get you attached to a pro body..sorry cant remember the name hope this helps

Posted By Martin J Morley This should be BRE (Building Research Establishment) who did a lot of the work underpinning the FSO. The point of the application form etc is to ensure that you are capable, rather than suitable. They will also deliver their course, or even bits of it, at a venue to suit. Excellent stuff, very reasonable and risk based - though that might present the 'Fire Service' with problems, they still seem to have a tick box rather than risk based approach! martin
