Posted By Gra Clarke Hi, We have a cardboard shredder used for packing, our cardboard is shredded in an enclosed, (warehouse floor), environment. The question is, is the dust harmful, thanks. Graham

Posted By Mitch Gra, Also consider the dust from the adhesives, labels etc. I would have an analysis carried out. Mitch

Posted By Chris Packham Most cardboard will contain some adhesive, particularly the corrugated type. Constituents of the adhesive may be sensitisers. Thus the dust may well contain small amounts of sensitiser. Inhalation and skin (facial) exposure could result in health effects. Note that there is no such thing as a "non-hazardous" substance. In the words of a leading US dermatologist: "There is probably no such thing as a non-irritant substance. Given certain conditions any substance can be an irritant" (Prof. H. I. Maibach, 1997) See also the definition of a substance hazardous to health in COSHH regulation 2(e) Chris
