Do leather coverings on sofas (domestic use)need to pass the appropriate cigarette and match ignition tests

My understanding is that they do even though they are inherently fire resistant but I am basing that purely on my own suite being labelled.

As far as I know ALL coverings need to comply, which includes leather.

Go to the DTI website and download the Guide to the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations. You should find the answer there together with details of the various exemptions, cut off dates etc.

Thanks for the responses and as mentioned I ended up with a definitive yes from Trading Standards. Out of interest the issue was a supplier saying that only bi-cast leather needed to be tested and not the natural leather they use, however the regulations make no such distinction and imply all permenant covers need to meet the appropriate standards.
