The HSE Newsletter that costs £20 for 12 months - is it worth it? Is it any different from the free e:mails?

As the HSE newsletter is professionally designed and illustrated, you may well find parts of it worth copying and presenting for the attention of senior management.
While some of them may be inclined to allow 'mere' black print on white paper remain unread in their in-tray till the Xmas break, more of them may be stimulated to at least glance through parts of the HSE newsletter you highlight for them.

Hmmm.....that doesn;t help me as I'm a consultant!
What I want to know really is what the content is like as a valid update as to what's going on in the H&S and enforcemen world.

Why not ask the HSE for a preview before you commit yourself?
They can only say no.

The key word there is 'ex' inspector!
Don't think they produced it when I was an inspector. I certainly don't remember it. With all their costs cutting measures I doubt inspectors would get to see it anyway.
There's a always a certain irony to working in the HSE, often you're the last to know what's going on and the last to see anything!!
So, back to my query. Has ANYONE actually seen a copy of this priced newsletter so they can give me a heads up on whether it's worth it?

If it's not worth buying then yes!!!
And considering no one has so far been able to tell me what's it's like I guess most other people feel the same.
I'm absolutely baffled. I come on the forum to ask whether a priced publication is any good but all I'm getting is interrogation about my past as an ex-inspector and how stingy I am with my money!
Forget it.
Unless anyone has anything constructive to say I'm not interested.
I've suddenly remembered why I rarely use this forum!

I have had a subscription for many years (going back before the year 2000).
As a vehicle for keeping you up to date - probably not, as you can update yourself quickly and easily on the various websites.
However the publication is well put together and informative, and makes an interesting read, as it expands on topics of interest and current campaigns. In your situation it is something you might recommend to your clients, as it is a bite size publication.
In the past there were usually several pages of either Research News or Euro News. The latter tended to be very repetitious because the cogs of europe turn rather slowly, but I do miss the research news.
Why not try it for a year and find out?
By the way, although the first copy is £20 I think subsequent copies are a lot cheaper.

Thanks Jane.
If you've been getting it for that long then it was in production when I was an inspector! The mushroom philosophy strikes again!!
I think it's £20 for 6 editions over the year. not expensive in the big scheme of things but then if I took that approach to every £20 here there and everywhere I'd be even more broke than I am now!
Food for thought.

One person mentioned you were an ex-inspector and I questioned the low cost - yet you state you are being interrogated and called stingy.
What happens when you get a real insult?

Geoff,
Because the fact that I'm an ex-inspector and whether I'm careful with my money are irrelevant. I don't expect such questions in response to a request for help. I don't expect insults at all!
You're obviously one of those people who like to come onto this forum to be antagonistic.
I can't be doing with you an your ilk so please stay off this thread.
