Hello All,
Can anyone reccommend a good dvd for inductions?
I saw the "I chose to look the other way" dvd yesterday and am considering this, but just wondering what you use.
Thanks
Carl

Carl,
Never come across a 'good' DVD on inductions we carry out our own individual inductions depending on the position/duties location etc.

Carl,
It depends what you are trying to achieve with induction training and the hazards your particular workplace has. Our induction training is a half day session, I use a fire extinguisher video (VHS), produced by the Fire and Rescue service, for part of the session. I also use parts of a new DVD called 'PPE Essentials' for others. But most of the time it me, a Keynote (Apple Mac) presentation , demonstrations and discussions.
If you want details of the VHS and DVD email me direct.

Cheers guys for the responses
Basically just a overall "safety culture" dvd. Something that makes the person watching think about working safely.
Like I said, the "I chose to look the other way" dvd is good, maybe something similar that isnt specific to a particular subject but puts a message across

Carl,
Training videos/DVDs do cost that sort of money and more. For cheap and amusing DVDs try the HSE DVDs featuring NAPO. They get the point across and get people laughing.

Carl as with my colleagues above I have a combination of Induction materials dependant on which are they will be working in. I tailor Powerpoint presentation, chalk & talk with DVDs. I have always found the DVD's to be generic, however they can be used to support your own material specific to your site.
I agree the NAPO DVD's are fun and do strike a response.

Just a thought, but why not create your own? Update it periodically and perhaps even have more than one. You are clearly a competent practitioner so I really don't think you would have that many issues to consider in its overall production.
If a specific induction falls outside of your own level of expertise, you would then need to consider a specialist one.
Just remember to take the lens cap of;-)
