Dear All

Is there a mandatory ventilation specification for closed vans carrying cylinders of refrigerant gases (R22, R407c, R410a), Oxygen Free Nitrogen, propane, oxygen and acetylene? The total quantity carried falls under the ADR threshold of 1,000 transport units.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Paul

Ventilation is important, youve probably checked out the links.........
Have you thought of security.

On impact of the travelling van , the last time I was involved in an RTA/C with the Fire Service, unsecured cylinders travelling at impact speed flattened the body of the driver.
You may want to ask which way the driver stores them, hopefully upright.

My personal thoughts on the matter are that vans( enclosed) should not be allowed to carry cylinders of that description, and all flammable gasses, refrigerant and others should be by wagon. there is a reason to this, and it is in the case of a severe accident, rescue services cant identify the contents.

I'm with Lloyd here too.

Send me a PM as I have some pictures that illustrate the point very well.

You have to be aware of The Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regs 07 and ADR.

Depending on the type and quantity of gas carries you may be 'in scope' and therefore there may be a requirement to have a particular design specification on the type of vehicle which must be used.

if you email me the UN numbers and quantities carried I could spread a bit more light on it.

I am a DGSA so will look in the ADR
