Posted By PL Hi, Does anyone know if there is a video/dvd available showing the destruction of a safety helmet? One of my engineers wants to video the hemet being tested to destruction (by dropping heavy things on one from height) but if there's something commercially available, it would both save time and the potential of him hurting himself doing so. Thanks

Posted By PL He's trying to show our staff who visit shipyards the folly of not wearing one. His thought is drop a hammer from a height and show how the helmet protects you (preferably with minor damage). Then do the same with a melon and... well you get the picture.

Posted By ianmilne69 Ideas: Perhaps do the melon on a pole and video it from two angles (two melon heads needed) and also show the picture of how far the pole went. Also, use an old out of date helmet so no complaints. And also consider dropping a weighted helmet / melon etc with the weight positioned to show it hitting the ground upside down head first. That should give you enough evidence. Or just ask a manufacturer for one...... Hope it helps.

Posted By Mitch Paul, Why does he just not do it on a melon with and without the helmet, obviously WITH the helmet first! Your/his reasoning raises 2 points though 1 why are your people so badly managed it has become such an issue and who manages the shipyards your people visit do they not enforce H&S?
