I took my IOSH Managing Safety course back in 1994. Can someone tell me how long does this certification last.
I heard that it might only be 3 years?
I have been implementing safety standards in my working environment over the last 14 years so it would be CPD in that respect but I now need to know whether or not I should re-take the course?

Hi folks - as far as I am aware IOSH recommended a 3 year renewal.
However, they do not put a renewal date on the certificate.
Could I suggest however, that if you took the training you got and put it into practise, then you are gaining in experience, therefore competence and the renewal would be useless to some people.
If however, you feel that things are not going correctly a renewal may benefit.

Morning Linda
1994 is an age ago in terms of H&S related matters. What I would ask is how have you maintained your knowledge? Or in other words what resources have you utilised to ensure what you do & say is correct?
Perhaps you may like to consider taking a qualification such as Nebosh or similar, that way you can demonstrate experience, knowledge and qualifications that are appropriate for your industry; a lot does depend on what time you spend on H&S related matters and to what level of competency you require.
