Posted By Taff2 We provide practical training for our users of self contained breathing apparatus (via competent external provider). Currently we require all users to be retrained annually & those who are infrequent users (not used in last 6 months) are required to undertake their training every 6 months. I guess that this is good practice - but is there any legal guidance out there? or other best practice?

Posted By Helen C I believe the 'old' HSG 53 recommended that a BA user practices for a minimum of 11 hours a year (don't quote me on that - it was something like that), however, that statement is no longer in the latest version. Industry standard is for BA training to be refreshed at intervals of 3 years, however, many companies refresh on an annual or two yearly basis. Your policy of refreshing occasional users every 6 months seems very robust.
