The company I work for has a requirement to sent employees to India to give some technical assistance on the assembly of its equipment. As part of this work they will need to gain access via bamboo scaffolding to which some have expressed concern.
I was just wondering if anyone had experience of using this type of scaffolding and if there were any inherent problems I should be looking into for our employees. I have tried to Google for advice but it does seem limited.

Hi Tony,
Just a couple of things that I have found before in India. Bamboo can be as strong as steel and the scaffolds, if well made, are no problem in respect to them actually collapsing however, one of the biggest problems is that they quite often forget to tie the damn things into the buildings! The other point is that they don't tend to have toe boards and in some cases no handrails.
Do get your guys/ladies to check the tie-ins before they go up.
I must also say that the first time I was due to go on one of these I did get an Indian guy (who had the Brit Safety Council Diploma) to brief me on the rope ties etc and advised me what to look out for.
