Posted By Crim Is there a specific need to enclose the above Plan into one or more folders or ring binders etc?
I ask because I visited a site yesterday where the P C has a two sided notice board with a number of A4 size plastic envelopes attached, and includes everything required by the Plan but separated and displayed inside the envelopes. This made all information so easy to see and access. Also makes the information available to all.
This way it is impossible to leave the Plan to gather dust on a shelf somewhere?

Posted By Tony abc jprhdnMurphy I visited a site recently with minor refurb works to a building but covered by CDM. The CPHSP was like war and peace, full of absolute garbage, not relevant to the site and "gathering dust". The site manager admitted that he did not read it because he did not understand the terminology, and if he had took the time to read it he would still be in no position to start work, it was I think 240 pages. The more people who try to simplify site safety the more people will buy into it and the easier the message. The CPHSP printed onto info boards is a great idea...but only if it can be understood by those who require the info. In fact I would love to have the balls to write a plan that said: Use competent designers Use competent construction workers Share information on a daily basis Tidy up Go home

Posted By Robert K Lewis However it probably means that it will be sat in plastic sleeves gathering dust. I take the view if it is not on the managers desk it is not being used or reviewed and is therefore an ornament to comply, hopefully, with legislation.

Posted By Crim You're possibly right Bob but what about the question - Is there a specific need to enclose the above Plan into one or more folders or ring binders etc?

Posted By Robert K Lewis It can be in any form as long as it is current and used. Begs the question as an ancient pedant that the CPHSP no longer exists in law it is now the Construction Phase Plan - CPP, unless of course it is over a year old and never revised.
I hope that SWMPs will be better managed than the CPP.
