Afternoon,

Does any body have a DVDs/Video, on the correct methods of putting on PPE the selection of PPE & the maintenance issues. Even a web-site address would help, free info if possible.

What sort of PPE are you talking about? There is considerable difference between the training needed for a half-mask respirator, positive pressure breathing set, chemical protective gloves (both single use and reusable), coveralls, etc., etc.

To cover all PPE use in a single DVD would mean one that is extremely long.

Furthermore, my experience is that whilst a DVD is a good starting point, with gloves, for example, nothing beats a practical exercise. We use a special UV light box (not a commercial one as we have found that these are generally not sensitive enough) and fluorescent tracer. It is not unusual to find that even after seeing a video, over 50% of workers contaminate their hands on removing gloves.

I would tend to go for practical exercises rather than a DVD. You get better buy-in from those involved.

Chris
