2 of the FLT's used by the company are taxed to allow them to travel between yards on the public highway.
Due to previous thefts of the tax discs we now only have a photocopy in the machine, with the original in the offices. I know this does not quite comply with the law, but how do others get round this issue?
(I'm now hoping that the one person on here who knows me doesn't snitch...)

I think the actual offence is "not displaying" as opposed to not actually "having".

If the FLT is never left on the road unattended, then the driver, when challenged, could go to the office and get the original.
If you explain the situation about the thefts maybe the PC would be reasonable.
If he does insist on writing you up ask him how he's getting on with apprehending the scrotes who pinched your tax discs....
