Posted By jayjay Steve ! I would say yes as obviously you lift patients into the bath with it, however either contact the manufacturers or your insurers and they'll give you the correct guidance. Regards, JJ

Posted By Dave Daniel LOLER requires "Thorough Examination" not servicing. Don't confuse the two, although they can be combined. The six monthly examination is a DEFAULT in LOLER and if you write your own schedule you can follow this instead. I think you'll find that some manufacturers - certainly ARJO - do a combined Service/LOLER and their written schedule calls for a full service/examination every 12 months and 6 monthly "working inspection". This applies to all their bath lifters, pool hoists and personal lifting appliances.

Posted By MGF 'Now does it need any guards!!:-) :-)' not guards as such but a recent Medical Device Alert (Issued: 03 March 2008 at 10:30 Ref: MDA/2008/010) has actioned certain types of bath hoist/lift now require a seatbelt, think it was an Arjo manufactured bath hoist, and if they service your equipment it should have been pointed out to you by now. regards

Posted By MGF It would be, but you wouldn't need a service every 6 month unless it is being heavily used and 'competent' engineer decides it requires this. (rising costs) As mentioned above don't get confused over terminology, thorough inspection can be by someone who knows the equipment and what it should do / look like etc in order to identify early problems. Similar to transport drivers checking oil, lights, etc etc but full service still required annually by trained engineer Oh and don't forget the slings if the hoist/lift uses these regards MGF
