I was wondering if anyone in here has had any experience in managing H&S in a youth club.
Our club caters for 7-11 year olds and opens once a week for an hour and a half (2 hours if we have a party/disco.). We have nice facilities including a small hall, reception area with pool table, a separate kitchen and sweet shop and a well stocked art bay. On the summer nights we have a decent size play area outside where the kids play football etc. We also arrange cinema trips and an annual outing to a theme park. We currently have 7 committee members and around 60 kids on the books.
We are run by volunteers and have inherited a H&S file from the old committee and to be honest, it's a bit "War & Peace".
My mission is to simplify a lot of the procedures and make it more "usable" to the many volunteers we use.
I was kinda wondering if any of you guys had some experience in dealing with youth groups and perhaps 'mentor' me through this.
For myself I am a NEBOSH NGC working in a junior H&S role and understand the basics of what I need to achieve. But when dealing with children, I need to get this right and would like someone to 'check' my work and perhaps point out anything I may miss. At present I have re-written the H&S policy and carried out a couple of risk assessments.

Posted By Ron Hunter Worth contacting your Local Authority Community Education people, who may already have some of the resources you seek (or know where to get them), and may be able to put you in touch with others via networking and partner organisations in the local voluntary and com.ed sectors?
