Posted By Robbie Robinson I'm just about to start my first ever 'Hazardous Area Classification' for our business (Aircraft Maintenance). I've completed a DSEAR course and have model codes to help me complete the task, however, one thing I do not have, is a good example of a completed area classification document. Can anyone help? I'm looking for a template that reflects the format and style to be expected for such a document. Many thanks for your help. Robbie.

Posted By Guderian All part of the learning process, is to develop your own documents & templates. What fuel type of a/c - avgas or avtur? IP 15 gives guidance for fuel tankers/bowsers HAC zones. This should virtually be a no brainer exercise, the aircraft tech manuals/APs will specify safety distances and also show all a/c system fuel system vents, which will 'blow' off as an aircraft is refuelled. Are we dealing with one type of a/c or various types? If in the blue suited mob, lots of help available. If working in fuel system component workshops, all very easy - virtually every where will be zoned, test rigs with open fuel Zone 0 etc. General workshop Zone 1, maybe Zone 2 in parts Worshop lighting/power supplies all intrinsically safe. If in a workshop environment and air extraction (to provide ventilation to prevent build up of ex atmosphere) must have Ex rated motors in the ducting. Look at BS 1127-1, BS 60079 and IP 15 guides for further help. BS 60079 in particuar has a number of suitable recording forms to get you going. Easy peasy job

Posted By Robbie Robinson Hi Guderian Thanks for the input. Fuel is Jet A1! I have IP15 and other sources of info. I'll have a look at the forms in BS 60079.
