Having just reviewed the short clip on the HSE website and compared this with what one can download for free, I feel that, unless the HSE version contains material that is not on the one you can download, then you are correct.

WMV - Windows Media Viewer (standard on microsoft operating system)
AVI - Audio Video Interface (I think......)
Both are types of media players.
WMV can be locked, which potetially means you would not be able to play.
AVi cannot be locked in this way.

the one on offer from the HSE is 52 mins long, the link posted above gives access to a 10 minute clipp of the movie. i'll have a look about and see if i can find the 52min one some where else.

OK I've watched all 6 or 7 on the european site. Please tell me I'm not the only one here who would honestly feel like they was being treated like a child if they was expected to watch one in a safety presentation or training session.
( was and were... I never know which one to use :-) )
It's worse than Pingu. (But I will admit my lad used to laugh till he cried when Pingu ate yellow snow.)
I nearly asked if it was geared at children but the content suggests otherwise. Could this be one of the reasons safety gets a bad name?

Pingu? I guess so. But what is wrong with Pingu? I never watched it, but everytime one of my mates mentions it, I know the rest of the group is going to be able to add more ... so it works as a communication.
I used to shun the Simpsons, but now I see the message.
I will use these (thanks Gilly) for my up an coming international risk assessment training I have to design. Perfect even without sound.
I like the representations used, it helps one to visualise the basics, even complacency.
I will be sure to introduce it correctly though, I think if you let people know you want them to look for the message rather than worry if it is grown-up, it doesn't matter.

Actually it should be "were", but you make a very good point.
I always feel that it is counter-productive to treat those undergoing training as simple minded. I often encounter the view (usually from middle management) that the workforce are simple-minded, as they only work in the factory. Then you find that they are working with sophisticated computer controlled machine tools that that manager would have difficulty understanding!
Having now watched the video several times I feel that it does not do much for me and I do not think it would do much for the people I am generally training either.
However, let us bear in mind that it was produced as a collaborative effort across the EU and that other countries may respond differently.

Agree Chris totally.
I sometimes remind managers that some of the people stacking shelves do so because they are happy doing that. It gives them a break from managing the lives of several offspring, running a home and all whilst studying for a degree in biometric science.
A peruvian goatherder may raise their eyebrows in surprise at napo, personally, I dont like it, nor do the people I showed it to today.
Right, more coffee methinks.
