I was involved in a discussion today with someone who had condemned a scaffold because the monoflex sheeting had been tied inside the scaffolding instead of outside the scaffolding.
I can understand that if it's tied outside that you can get the whole of the vertical drop covered without any break. However, as long as there is no breaks or gaps evident, is this not adequate?
I've searched everywhere for guidance on this but to no avail, so all advice gratefully accepted.

Will this sheeting on the inside not impede using the hand rails and obstruct any seven day inspections that have to be carried out?.
Is there no reference to this in SG4/05 have a look you may find it in there.

Sheeting on scaffolding should be installed so that in high winds it will give a little and not pull the scaffolding away. It should also be one way allowing the wind to pass through. It should also be clipped in with ties that can break if required.
Notwithstanding that we are unable to see the actual scaffolding, did the person not inform you of the reasons why the scaffold was condemmed?

Erecting Monarflex on the inside removes the "safety valve" as you know Monarflex should be fixed with bungee ties which become a sacrificial tie if winds get too high, also you have the advantage of sealing the scaffold depending how you lap your Monarflex, if you lap with top section inside you stop most debris getting out, if you lap top section outside then you waterproof from the outside in. Importantly if your are sheeting or netting your scaffold it must be designed in which case I feel sure your designer will show your sheeting on the outside.
