Hello,

Does anybody know of a good source of information where I can direct publicans that rent pubs from a brewery and publicans that own their own premises(Not publicans that are employed directly by pub management companies, who should (hopefully)have access to such information).

I am particularly looking for risk assessments, and for risk assessments for members of staff under 18 (e.g. Waitresses in restaurant pubs).

What do you mean bu the term non managed pubs, someone surley manages the pub??

If you mean just any old pub, then the responsibility falls upon the 'duty holder' generally the landlord. If it is a managed pub the responsibility to undertake the risk assesment will probably fall upon the manager of the pub, I find it hard to believe the owner or brewery would do it.

But, why is it nesessary to have a specific risk assesment process, what makes a pub different to other retail outlets (except the stuff they sell and the price). Try looking at a general risk assessment that starts by identifying the risks staff and customers face and work from there.

I think if you google ( I know googling isn't very clever !) HSE they might have some useful info there.

I don't know their proper name but I know that the licensing trade body have some assessments that you should be able to find via google.

Geraint,

Most breweries already have some form of risk assessment that they will be able to provide even if not directly employed by them
I'd suggest you contact them on behalf of the landlord who's purchasing their stock. You'll find most responsive.
If your struggling I'll try and find a few I've done in the past.
Areas of special consideration for pubs include:
Response by staff tyo drunk/violent customers
Handling broken glass
Clearing up bodily fluids
Drugs/needles
Fire (less of an issue since the ban that shall not be named)
Let me know if you get stuck,
Regards,
John
