Ive been asked to look at doing the 4 day BOHS P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings course.
Has anyone been on it, is it good, daunting or any other feedback most welcome
Thanks for any input

I've done P402. Not too daunting really, particularly if you have a fair bit of prior knowledge, a good understanding of the relevant legislation, ACoPs and guidance!
The Modules are a good transferable qualification too!

If you are the duty holder the P405 can give you a good grounding in what you need to know, but like most things it won't make you an expert overnight!! Takes at least a week that does :-) Obviously provider quality can vary, but if you use a member of an organisation named UKATA you should be OK.

It depends....
If you have a few years experience in asbestos remediation then you will be fine, just pay attention & be aware of the different approaches of the examiner - some apparently conduct interviews, whereas our one went for 4 hours of essay writing.
If you don't have the practical experience, then obtain the reading list early, get copies of all the publications and give yourself a couple of weeks to read through them - a couple of guys on my course didn't get the materials until a couple of days before the course and were absolutely swamped by it.
UKATA is a a fair place to start, but some of the names on their books are a long way from quality organisations so look for a 3rd party recommendation. RPS Consultants did the job in my case, there are plenty of other good companies out there.
Best of luck!

You first contact should be BOHS. See who the course providers are and when they are run. Then who recommends a company and of course location.
UKATA and BOHS have nothing to do with each other.
UKATA deal with licensed and non-licensed training and asbestos awareness only not the P modules. BOHS provide occupational hygiene syllabi for organisations to follow.
All you will find on the UKATA site is maybe an organisation that provide both.
Hope this helps :-)

Yep I did mine this year without too much 'practical' experience.
I did have a prior knowledge of CAR, which I think you need.
But it's not too an overwhelming course to do providing you get a good course provider!
