We have currently on site a 45 tonne container loader. The loader works by hydraulic means as it locks onto the container at the 4 lifting points and is then transported to lay down area/flat bed truck
My question is the loader has 6 lifting points to which I have been informed by management you can attach lifting chains for the lifting of other vessels other than containers. Is this correct to me the loader is designed for 1 operation that being the lifting of shipping containers i.e.Bells containers.
Would be grateful of any information on this matter.

I think i know what you mean. I've seen lifts carried out with these machines, with chains, but not containers.

Paul. Don't guess. Ring the manufacturers of the container loader and ask them for their specification of use. There must be a manual somewhere. Google the loader manufacturers name to get a phone number.

We have got the brochure on the container loader now and it shows on pictures the use of lifting chains for the lifting of vessels and other equipment and it is written to what it can lift and the chains to be attached so thank you bluenose for letting me know that you seen this in machine in operation.
To peter I have seen the google specs on machine it is within its capacity to lift with chains with the loader only arriving on site last night and seeing it at work start at 07.30 this morning I just wanted info on it straight away
