Could anybody recommend a good MH dvd. It is for a multi disciplined site. If you have an idea of costs and where to obtain it, it would be very much appreciated.

There is a manual handling DVD called watch your back, I can't say that it is particularly interesting (but are any of them), however if gives a good understanding of Manual Handling and covers everything that is needed. It also gives four different sectors, warehousing, factory, office and outside workers.

I think you can get if from safety media who will do try before you buy so you can suss it out first. It's about £150 inc VAT.

I use "what the papers weigh" by HSE, about £20 as a video. Aimed at supply chain involved in newspapers but often goes well as it is different to the industries and settings the course delegates are from. Hence it provokes debate on why they have it harder or easier than newspaper industry and brings out points about working environments, labour issues etc which is exactly what you want for a TILE/LITE approach to MH risk assessments etc.

the one I have just obtained is from the safetyshop' Manual Handling Safety Essentials'
it does exactly what it says on the tin!
I also think it was the cheepest option as well you can also upgrade and use the work book as well which give a cert for the personnel files.
it is generic so should suit all areas of work

cheers

Should always try a facility like this prior to purchase to make sure it gives out the right information, it is what you want, and it has the right approach.

Teaching babies to suck eggs I guess, but better s.....

Hi, I use the Manual Handling for Industry (New Approach) by Vocam (www.vocam.com). I have used this film for the last 10 months or so during training and find it to be very staright forward...... and as intersresing as it could be. Mind you it wasnt very cheap but I feel was worth the money.

We use a DVD that is produced by ROSPA and FPA. It concentrates on handling techniques and does not dwell on any industry in particular. It's good value as well, as it costs around £99.

Have a look at the Fire Protection Association website.

"Child's Play" is the one our manual handling trainers like. Shows how children naturally lift correctly and makes the point that as we grow older we develop bad habits.

About £250 from Safety Care ( 020 8547 3500 )

Also have an "Office" version of the above but I have not seen it.
