Posted By Crim Does anyone have experience of the "No Hands Mouse"? This is a recent (I think?) innovation whereby the mouse is one or two foot pedals and saves the user from using a typical hand operated mouse. Some advertised advantages are hands are kept at the keyboard and the prevention of carpel tunnel syndrome and RSI. I wonder if there is potential for harmful effects for the feet/ankles knees etc.? For those not aware of this you can just Google no hands mouse and look at any on the list. I found one with 2 foot pedals like driving a car and having a video on U tube. Many thanks

Posted By Dave Merchant Their ads suggest it's useful for people who already have RSI/CTS as it gives their wrist a rest; and for the disabled; but in terms of preventing it in the first place, I can't see the logic. You still need to make the same number of joint movements each day, just with a different joint. You're also using larger muscle groups to control your ankle than you'd use for your hand - they're less sensitive so the movements have to be larger too.

Posted By ScotsAM The pilot targeting system of an Apache Longbow would be a useful system if converted into a no hands mouse.

Posted By Ian Mitchell Coincidentally, I was researching the exact same thing this morning, after seeing an article in (I think) the Metro paper the previous day. I am looking at it for an employee who already has issues with constantly clicking the mouse etc. I see it as 'worth a go' for this type of scenario. I agree that as a preventive measure it is no better than using the hands. It would just cause foot RSI!

Posted By Crim Ian, The Metro is where my wife first saw it, she has a vested interest as she already has RSI and started working at a call centre last week. I would appreciate further info from yourself if you get anywhere? ScotsAM, could you please elaborate?
