I've just heard that the H & S law poster displayed in all premises is being changed in April 2009. I understand there is no immediate requirement to change but any new provision should be with the new style. But there is a date when all need to me changed by, I do not know when this is.

I only heard this today and am unsure if this was on a previous thread, so if I am telling you news you already know about I apologise. I wonder if this is because of major changes or a money making exercise!!.

Grahams,

I believe this is still in consultave stage, but highly likely to go through.

Also something about not requiring to register to local authority under Office Shops & Warehouse regs going through same stages as well.

Just looked into this. They are proposing to change the look of the poster as it is unappealing and people tend not to read the thing. There will still be a requirement to display it though, so no getting away from that then.

It,s been up for years and the majority of any work force never read it, another totally useless item (apart from the fact it makes the government money), it makes no contribution to H & S at all.

If it is for the benefit of the employee why cannot the employer just print of a copy of the contents and display those?

the HSE paid £140K to an external contractor to redesign this new poster (they should have just got rid of it)
and state the savings to industry will be many millions,

"because someone will not have to fill them in"

I believe that the change will also allow for the poster to be 'displayed' electronically - e.g. on an intranet site. Keep an eye on the HSE website
